Default Ffxi > Gw? <=*(

Ive played Gw scince beta and frankly...im just bored of it. Ive coverd every aspect of the game including 8 chars (deletions included) through ch1 and ch2. Virtually EVERY farming build known to gw tried out. 55 till my eyes fell out...rank 3 on every char and been in a top 100 guild. FFXI has so many more options, skills, community, and alliance options. I have quite a few guild members going my way too and hanging up gw and heading over to FFXI.

What do you guys think? Probably not good asking this in the gw forums lol, but anyway...

Id pay 10 bucks a month to play a quality game. Gw factions and a lot of the things that anet does is so rushed and ppl still buy it, im just finally saying no and quitting.

Funny thing, I was about to go along this path about two weeks ago. Now, if I had some money, I probably would have gone onto FFXI. Now I'm just playing around on forums, dropping into the game every little while for a chat session with my guildies and friends.

If you are truely willing to pay every month for a game, by all means go. Final Fantasy will treat you well (from what I've heard). Hopefully you will make a smart decision that leads you to a better gaming experience.

/waits for Neverwinter Nights 2

I used to play it for a good amount of time. FFXI is a good game if you are willing to put effort and time into it. The community is much better in FFXI than in this game. The only problem I have with FFXI is the server economy is so out of whack with all the bot farming and gil farming that is going on in all the servers. Since all the gear you need to level is usually bought from the AH system, prices are pretty inflated cause of that. Quests are plenty but they are optional, the main lvling scheme is pretty much grind in that game all the way to 75. I liked the class system, since it allowed you to switch between your main job and sub job easily. I suggest that you look and read FFXI about the various job classes available and then plan on what you want to be from there. It'll makeyour life in that game a whole lot easier trust me.

Get a gamepad or a ps2 controller convertor for your pc since that'll make your life a whole lot easier in that game trust me.

That's my outlook on the game. A fun game in my opinion.

I began GW because I had to stop playing FFXI. If I still had access to FFXI, I'd still be playing it, to be honest. It certainly does keep you busy, and the world there feels large.

The instances of GW just don't have the same effect.

Not to sound picky, but rank is always account-based, thus you have it on every char whatsoever ^^

FFXI is alot of fun to play. Though, it requires a much larger commitment to the game than Guild Wars. If I get on to get in an EXP party, I usually set aside a good 3 - 4 hours, because people tend to get pissy if you leave after half an hour. But, the community is so much better than Guild Wars. You never see anyone shouting WTS or WTB thanks to the auction house system, and people just tend to be friendlier, unless you are on one of the game forums. People tend to be rude in the forums.

Overall, if you're willing to pay the monthly fee, then I'd recommend getting it.

Why do people constantly have to compare very different types of games is beyond me, but please stop doing it, thanks.

Please. We're not comparing the games, we're just giving our opinion of the game to someone who may be interested in purchasing it. The only thing we compared is the community, which really doesn't reflect on the type of game play now does it? I could say that the Halo community is better than the Guild Wars community, and it doesn't mean I'm comparing the games. So, you may want to go find a thread about Guild Wars vs. WoW, and complain there.

The Halo community burns o.o

Don't ever get a speaking form of communication in FPS games. My god, the rage >_>

If you have the time and effort to put into a character than do it, it'll be fun if you have the time.

I came to Guild Wars from FFXI. That was over a year ago now. FFXI seemed too hard to get started in unless you know a high-level in game. This is due mostly to an unbalanced economy. I played it for 3 months before giving up. Also, at that time, the community surrounding the game seemed... dead. There never was many people online on my server, and the ones that were were all high level, and didn't want to hang out with noobs too much. One thing that is better in FFXI is PUGs. They are generally far far more balanced, but at the cost of waiting for all the right people. In the dunes, I had to wait up to 3 hours at a time to find a good group. But, if you have the time and patience, and you are willing to pay every month, I'd reccomend it. And, like Lasareth said, the world feels like it pretty big. It takes a while to get anywhere in the game.
